The English supermarket chain Marks & Spencer has its own certification system called Field to Fork which aims to guarantee the high quality of the food it offers in its stores. The auditing standards are extensive and regularly reviewed to ensure that quality standards are maintained. In addition to the certification symbol, the name of each producer audited is printed on the packaging labels and an extra label is added indicating the provenance of the fruit and certifying that it is of special interest.
The products with the designation “Vida Auchan” are the visible face of a project that aims to stimulate the production of national agricultural goods that ensure respect for food safety, the environment and animal welfare. The commercialization of these products embodies the concept of Sustainable Agriculture – a mode of production that respects the environment and animal welfare, with the aim of reducing the negative impact of agricultural production on the environment, satisfying the needs of the present without compromising the future. It is a rigorous process, consisting of several stages. For each product there must be a technical file, a specification and its control by an Independent Control Body (OIC).
Certification created by the English association of retail traders, validated in many other European countries by the need to regulate the retail market so that they are obliged to guarantee the food safety of products from their origin to the point of sale. This certification is divided into 6 areas: *realization of an HACCP system *realization of a quality control system *company environmental policies *control of the production process *staff control
It is a benchmark that identifies the principles and practices that, when complied with by producers and packers of fruit and vegetable products, ensure that production systems and product handling are environmentally sustainable and responsible. The benchmark stipulates demanding requirements for production according to an integrated management plan, encompassing the need for environmental protection and the protection and promotion of sustainable biodiversity. The system is based on a wildlife and landscape conservation policy promoted by a detailed environmental management plan. This benchmark is mandatory for all suppliers to Tesco, a UK distribution company and applies to the production, packaging and marketing of all Herdade Vale da Rosa grapes.
Founded in 1998, it is a support structure for agricultural production that started from a desire to bring the company closer to Portuguese producers. The objectives of the Clube de Produtores Continente company are essentially to select and promote Portugal in accordance with high standards of quality and safety in Sonae’s food retail chains, providing consistent and structured support to its members and at the same time guaranteeing a channel for the sale of their production.
